Rear Single Dormer
A single dormer loft conversion is one of the most economical ways to add space to your home. It is quite a simple and straightforward process and hence one of the most popular types of loft conversions. A rear single dormer conversion usually results in the addition of a large master bedroom with ensuite / shower room to the property.
Rear L-Shaped Dormer
An L-shaped dormer loft conversion is a very popular type of conversion for Victorian properties due their existing L-shaped layout. Detached, semi-detached, terraced, conversion and purpose-built flats all lend themselves to this conversion type. The additional loft space “L-shape” extends over the rear outcrop of the ground floor.
Rear Mansard
A rear mansard loft conversion is particularly suited to Edwardian and Victorian terraced houses as well as first floor flats. The party walls are built up in brick, typically London Stock Brick allowing the conversion to be the full width of the property.
Rear L-Shaped Mansard
A rear L-shaped Mansard is very similar to a rear mansard but simply extends out over the rear of the property to form another room. An L-shaped Mansard is particularly suited to a period property and a mid-terrace property.
Hip to Gable Rear Dormer
For a hip to gable loft conversion the roof hip is removed, a new gable wall is raised from the existing walls of the house and the remaining pitched roofline is extended to meet it. The gable wall is usually built up in brick or render to match the existing gable wall.
Velux Loft Conversion
A Velux loft conversion is the simplest of all loft conversion types and is also considered the cheapest way to convert your loft space. It doesn’t require any roof extension but simply a reinforcement and internal reconfiguration of the existing loft and addition of Velux windows to one or both sides of the roof.
London Roof Loft Conversion
A London roof, also known as a butterfly roof, is one that can be converted from front to back so results in one of the largest roof extensions. This conversion type results in the addition of a whole new floor leading to the same floor space as the one below.

Case Studies
Loft Conversion in Leytonstone
We carried out a stunning loft conversion to a property in Leytonstone. We converted and extended the loft in conjunction with a full house refurbishment and a ground floor extension. This was such an impressive job that it featured in KBB Magazine. This Victorian semi-detached property in Leytonstone already had the loft converted but our clients wanted to extend it further to the rear of the property over the first-floor outrigger. The addition was to make the fourth bedroom a large master suite with a dressing room and large ensuite bathroom. This L-shaped 4-bedroom property in Leytonstone already boasted large, well apportioned rooms and the bedroom on the second floor in the existing loft conversion was a comfortable size to begin with. We added a small rear mansard loft and renovated the existing bedroom, ensuite, stairwell and landing. This addition of the rear mansard loft is a great addition to the loft conversion and serves as a large dressing room. The pictures really do speak for themselves for this project.
Here is what our client had to say about us for the whole project (extension, renovation and loft conversion):
"We used Creative Spaces for the renovation, loft and kitchen extension of our 3-story Victorian semi-detached in 2021-22. Luke gave us a lot of confidence during our initial meetings and then the planning and quoting process for what was an involved project, including his team taking on the production of the construction drawings. Despite the complexity, the project pace was kept up and was completed in 9 months to a very high standard."
L-shaped Dormer Loft Conversion in Leytonstone
Creative Spaces designed and built an L-shaped dormer loft conversion for our clients in Leytonstone. This property is a Victorian terraced house situated on a tree lined street in Leytonstone close to Leyton flats park and Wanstead Park. Our client wanted to add two bedrooms to the three-bedroom property with an L-shaped dormer loft conversion. This L-shaped dormer loft conversion increased the size of this property from three bedrooms to five and added a large shower room to the top floor. In order to bring lots of light into the loft conversion we added two Velux windows to the front slope of the roof and a large window to the rear over the stairwell and another large window to the rear in the shower room. This project took 10 weeks to complete and not only has our client got a house with plenty of room for their family and guests but they have also increased the value of their property.
