Mansard Loft Conversion in Hackney

We converted the loft of a first floor flat in Hackney. The flat one of two flats in a Victorian Terraced house that was converted. This Hackney first floor flat was a one-bedroom flat and our clients wanted us to add an extra bedroom and bathroom with a Mansard Loft conversion. This Hackney mansard loft conversion spanned the width of the house from front to back, with mansard windows on both sides. We were able to apply for permitted development for this project and obtained a certificate of lawful development from Hackney Borough Council. Our client had drawings previously done by an architect but wanted to start afresh with new designs, which we did for her. We also got all the structural calculations and engineering detailing carried out. We also dealt with the council to obtain a certificate of lawful development and for Building control. The only thing our client had to do was ensure they was happy with the designs and to obtain party wall agreements from neighbours. This was a swift build and was completed in under 8 weeks. With the skill and knowledge of our build team and project manager moving this project along, we were able to deal with changes or issues that occurred through the build process. We handed over a flat that has now been increased in size and with the loft conversion proving to be a good investment by our client as the property value is now guaranteed to have increased.

Dormer Loft Conversion in Hackney

We added a full dormer loft conversion to a Victorian Terraced house in Hackney. The house is located on one of the lovely tree lined streets in Hackney close to Hackney Downs park. Our clients owned the whole property and wanted to add two extra bedrooms to the three-bedroom house. We achieved this by adding a full dormer loft conversion spanning the width of the house (from gable end to gable end). This was a mid-terraced house, so our client needed to obtain party wall agreements from their neighbours, and we applied for planning permission with Hackney Borough Council. Our clients were granted planning permission with the conditions that the external had to match the existing structure – we had to use tiles for cladding the dormer structure and the gable walls had to be built up in London Stock brick.

Once planning had been achieved, we moved forward with the project, where we added two large bedrooms to the loft conversion and also had two large ensuites. We added three windows to the rear of the dormer loft conversion and two velux windows to the front slope in the second bedroom bringing in lots of light. With this dormer loft conversion in Hackney, we significantly increased the floor area of this house bringing it from a three-bedroom, one bathroom house to a five bedroom, three bathroom house. Overall making a large spacious house for our client and with this investment, our clients have significantly increased the value of their property.
